New Delhi: Election Commission (election CommissionThe election symbol of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has been frozen amid the ongoing tussle between the factions. Chirag Paswan and his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras.
Both the factions have been barred from using the party’s name or its election symbol ‘Bungale’ till the dispute between the rival groups is settled by the Election Commission.
The Election Commission on Saturday also said that both the factions can use the free symbols available to field their candidates for the bypolls to the two assembly seats in the coming days.
Chirag had on Tuesday written a letter to the Election Commission claiming that the party’s ‘Bangla’ is the symbol. Union minister Pashupati had blamed Chirag for the poor performance in the 2020 assembly election, in which the party won one seat. The incident created a rift between the former party president and Pashupati, who eventually split the party.
Chirad claimed rights to the sign for the upcoming Bihar assembly by-election Scheduled for 30 October.
