CHSE Odisha exam result: Plus II science pass percentage 94.12, commerce pass percentage 89.20 – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: This year 94.12 per cent students have passed the Plus II science board examination almost one percentage point less than last year. Similarly, 89.20 per cent students passed in the Plus II commerce examination, while the previous year’s pass percentage was 94.96.

This was revealed from the data shared by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), which conducts the annual Higher Secondary (Plus II) examination and also publishes its results. School and Mass Education Minister Sameer Ranjan Das announced the results of Plus II Science and Commerce streams here on Wednesday.

This year students appeared for the board exams in offline mode after a gap of two years due to the Covid pandemic. The Council has awarded marks in each paper in two different ways (separately for theory and practical/project components of a paper). First, the actual marks obtained by the candidate in the annual board examination conducted by CHSE from 28 April to 31 May. and second, 80 percentile of annual board exam marks and 20 percentile of marks on the basis of best two performances. Candidates from three quarter-end examinations of Plus II.

Official sources in the CHSE said that the candidates have been given more than two marks calculated by the above two methods.

Like previous years, girls performed better than boys in both the exams. The pass percentage of girls in Science stream was 94.52 while that of boys was 93.8. The pass percentage of girls in commerce stream was 90.71 while that of boys was 88.32.

76,604 students, including 2833 ex-regulars from 1,049 Higher Secondary Schools (HSSs) appeared in the examination this year in the science stream. A total of 72,106 students have cleared the exam including 1188 pre-regular. As against last year’s 2278, 1124 students scored more than 90 percentile. In this stream 50,157 students secured first division and 14,932 secured second division.

The pass percentage of Nayagarh district in Science stream was the highest (99.11) in the state. The pass percentage of Phulbani district was 76.81 (lowest in the state). A total of 393 Higher Secondary Schools registered cent percent result in Science stream.

In commerce stream, a total of 23,726 students appeared for the Plus II commerce exam this year including 409 HSS’s 850 ex-regular and correspondence. Out of which 21,165 including 295 pre-regular and correspondence students passed the exam. 273 students scored above 90 percentile. A total of 10,863 students secured first division and 5,053 students secured second division.

Boudh district had a pass percentage of 100 in commerce, while Deogarh recorded a pass percentage of 61.53 (the lowest in the state). 134 HSS registered 100% result in this stream.

“We have not withheld the result of any student this year. This time not a single HSS reported nil result in both the streams. The results for plus-2 arts stream and vocational courses will be declared on August 8,” the minister said.
