Citroen India is all set to unveil the Made in India subcompact SUV, codenamed CC21, in the country tomorrow, September 16, 2021. This will be the second product from the French carmaker in India and is expected to be launched during this festive season. . The new Citroen CC21 SUV will be based on the company’s heavily localized Common Modular Platform (CMP) which has been specially developed for emerging markets like India and Brazil. In fact, this is part of the company’s C-Cubed program under which Citroen India plans to launch four new products in India by 2023. Here’s what you can expect from the new Citroen CC21 SUV.

Design & Styling
In terms of visual cues, the new Citroen SUV is expected to be heavily influenced by the C3 Aircross
As of now, Citroen hasn’t revealed any details about the design and styling of the upcoming SUV, however, it is expected to be heavily influenced by the C3 Aircross in terms of visual cues. Even in the spy images that we have seen so far, the SUV comes with that typical split headlamp setup that has a swept-back design with side air dams. Even the dimensions look almost identical and the curvy design language is unavoidable. A recently released teaser reveals that the subcompact SUV will sport a signature chrome grille and split headlamp setup. The SUV will also get a sculpted bonnet, sleek ORVMs, squarish-wheel arches, underbody cladding, LED taillamps, bumper cladding, alloy wheels and more.

Interior and Features
While nothing has been revealed about the cabin of the new CC21 SUV, we haven’t even got a glimpse of the interior in the leaked spy images of the car. Having said that, looking at the company’s design language and the globally sold C3 Aircross, we know that the new SUV will also come with a well-crafted cabin with premium finishes. It is also likely to get dual-tone interiors and minimalist dashboard with premium fabric upholstery. In terms of features, we expect to see a flat-bottom steering wheel, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reverse parking camera and a range of active and passive safety features.

Engine and Transmission
Under the hood, the new Citroen C3-based SUV for India is expected to share its powertrain with the globally sold C3. So, the petrol variant will come with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged unit and the diesel will get a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged oil burner.

While we don’t expect the company to announce the price of the SUV at the unveiling ceremony, upon its launch, the CC21 is likely to be priced around ₹ 7 Lakh to ₹ 12 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). In India, the new SUV will compete with Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
