The aunt of the trapped woman has now contacted foreign Ministry ,foreign Ministry) to save his niece.
According to Ghosiya Queen From Mallepally, his niece Asra Fatima (28), a widow, got a job in Dubai through a woman as she needed money for the treatment of her two physically challenged daughters. The Begum claimed that the woman had also promised to help Asra financially for the surgery of her daughters.
Asra arrived in Dubai in December last year and was sent to the home of an Arab family where she worked for eight months. According to the Begum, Asra was allegedly made to work for 15 hours a day and was also denied proper food and accommodation. She said Asra fell ill because she had to stay awake at night to look after her employer’s newborn twins.
Begum said that when Asra wanted to return to India, her employer snatched her phone and refused to pay her four months’ outstanding salary. When Asra reached out to the female agent in Dubai who had given her the first job, he sent her to another person.
But her suffering did not end as she was reportedly locked in a dark room for four days from where she managed to escape and reached a friend’s house in Ajman.
Ghosiya Begum said she has informed the Indian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Indian Consulate in Dubai about her niece’s condition. She said embassy officials have been given the phone number of Asra, who is still at his friend’s house in Ajman.
Begum said the phone numbers and details of the female agent in Dubai, her first employer and second employer have also been provided to the Indian authorities in the UAE to ensure action is taken.
