6 December was relatively calm but tense, following reports of arson at several places in Nagaland on 5 December after 14 civilians were killed in an Army security operation. Internet services remained suspended in many places to prevent the spread of misinformation. State Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio attended the funeral service of the dead civilians. Amid rising tension in the state, the Chief Minister demanded the withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, a demand also expressed by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
