Class 10 board exams: Odisha BSE rescheduled dates – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: In view of the prevailing heat wave conditions across the state, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha on Wednesday announced the revised schedule for conducting Madhyamik examination and State Open School Certificate Examination (SOSCE).

There will be no afternoon shift for these exams.

BSE Chairman Ramashish Hazra told reporters that the SOSCE and Madhyamik examinations, which were scheduled to begin at 11.30 am on May 2 and 4 respectively, will now be held on May 9 and 10 in the first sitting at 8 am.

However, there has been no change in the schedule of the High School Certificate (HSC) examination, which will begin from April 29.

HSC exams will be conducted from 8 am to 10 am.

A total of 5.85 lakh students will appear for the HSC exam at 3,303 centres. Hazra said that over 35,000 teachers will be monitoring the examinations.

The board has also constituted 38 special squads and 65 flying squads to check malpractices during exams.

School and Mass Education Minister SR Das said that mobile phones will not be allowed inside the examination centers and CCTV surveillance system has been installed for fair and transparent conduct of examination.

The minister said that the chief secretary has asked the power distribution companies to ensure uninterrupted power supply at the examination centres.

The concerned officers have been asked to make arrangements for drinking water supply at all the places.

In a related development, the state government on Wednesday said that all technical educational institutions will remain closed from Thursday till May 3.

The Department of Skill Development and Technical Education issued a notification in this regard saying that physical classes will remain suspended in all technical institutions due to heat wave conditions.

However, examinations in technical educational institutions will be conducted as per the schedule.

Earlier, the Department of School and Mass Education and the Department of Higher Education had announced the closure of schools, colleges and universities for five days.

All schools in the coastal state have been closed from April 26 to April 30, and colleges and universities have suspended their classes from April 27 to May 2.

According to the decision taken by the Department of Women and Child Development, the government has also closed all Anganwadi centers from 26 April to 30 April.
