Class 10 no longer have boards? PIB clarifies

Amidst the demand to cancel the offline board exam, a fake news about the cancellation of class 10 board exam went viral on many social media platforms. On Friday, the government fact check agency PIB Fact Check busted this fake news.

As per the screenshot of the fake message circulated, “The cabinet has given green signal to the new education policy. After 34 years, there has been a change in the education policy. The message further states that the board exams will be held only in class 12th and the board of class 10th has been closed. “MPhil will also remain closed. Now only 12th board exam will have to be given.

However, PIB Fact Check flagged the message as fake and highlighted that “the 10th board exam under NEP has not been discontinued.” Meanwhile, it has also provided the link for the new education policy where one can know more about the new policy. On its Twitter handle PIB Fact Check, the Press Information Bureau posted a screenshot of the alleged fake WhatsApp message and claimed that the claim in the message was fake. PIB wrote, “WhatsApp message claims that as per new education policy, there will be no board exams for class 10th.”

Around the same time last year, PIB Fact Check warned students on another fake message that was doing the rounds on the internet. The fake news had claimed that students would have to register their attendance through biometrics in all board exams. Although. PIB Fact Check had refuted the claim saying that no such announcement was made by CBSE.

Meanwhile, CBSE is expected to release the class 1 exam results for class 10 and 12 soon. Once declared, students will be able to check their result on the official website of CBSE. However, the board has not yet announced the exact dates for the declaration of results.
