At least 20 buildings, including a school building, were washed away and at least 20 others partially damaged in flash floods triggered by a cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Wednesday. SDM Zargar said Allama Iqbal Memorial Educational Institution, a house, eight ‘gharat’ (small mills) and three shops were washed away in the flood due to cloudburst in Tanta area of ​​Kahara tehsil. A part of Kahara Tourism Reception Centre, Bhaderwah Development Authority was badly damaged. He said over 20 structures were partially damaged, but there were no reports of any casualties or serious injuries.

DC Sharma said, ‘We are assessing the damage and relief will be given as per rules. He also said that the Red Cross organization would provide quick relief to some essential commodities. Meanwhile, in view of the bad weather, the district administration has issued an advisory.

It asked the public to remain alert and keep themselves away from the Chenab river in view of the rise in the water level in the river and the possibility of flash floods in the rivers and tributaries of the river.
