Amarnath Cloud Burst: There is news of cloudburst near Amarnath cave temple on Wednesday afternoon. Soon after the incident, an alert was issued and around 4,000 pilgrims were safely shifted by rescue teams deployed in and around the site. At present the situation is under control.

Earlier today, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai informed the Rajya Sabha that 15 pilgrims died due to flash floods during the Amarnath pilgrimage in Jammu and Kashmir this month.

Rai told the Rajya Sabha that no one was reported missing after the July 8 floods.

In response to a written query, he said, “As per the information provided by the Jammu and Kashmir government, 15 people lost their lives due to the flash floods.”

Rai said that various government agencies like NDRF, SDRF, Army, CAPF and Union Territory government officials have been deployed for search operation, rescue and relief of the pilgrims.

He said the pilgrims were immediately moved to safer places and camps and provided accommodation and food, while the injured pilgrims were taken to the nearest medical facilities.
