Clubhouse: Clubhouse working on new feature to invite friends to the room – Times of India

social networking platform club house is reportedly working on a new way to invite users to the audio room on its app. The new feature, called “Waves,” focuses on the social side of Clubhouse, according to a screenshot shared by researcher Jen Muncham Wong.
This new feature will allow users to wave friends and invite them to chat. Anyone can tap on the button similar to the hand in the Clubhouse logo and if another user responds, Clubhouse creates a separate room for users to talk. The company has not yet made any official statement about the new feature.
Clubhouse also rolled out spatial audio support for its iOS app last month (August). The feature aims to give the app a whole new level of depth as it places the speaker’s audio on a call in a 3D space around the listener’s head and makes them feel like a part of a room full of people. According to the company, this feature will soon be released on Android devices as well.
In July, the audio chat app signed a deal with Ted to expand its content pool by bringing exclusive content to the platform.
Released last year, Clubhouse gained popularity in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. The platform registered a significant growth when celebrities like Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk joined the wagon, but it looks like the app is losing its charm in the India market. In a latest report, Sensor Tower shows that from a high of 5.9 million app downloads across the Apple Store and Play Store in June, Clubhouse downloads fell to 558,000 in India in August.
This new feature update could help Clubhouse unveil the more casual side of the platform which encourages using it as another way to hangout online.
