Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) on Friday revised the prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in Delhi and adjoining cities of Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. This amendment will be effective from 6 am on Saturday, October 2, 2021.

“Consequent to the recent notification by the Government of India of a 62% increase in the prices of domestically produced natural gas, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) today announced revision of the selling prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) … Due to increase in gas cost,” the firm said in a statement.

The price of CNG in the national capital has increased by Rs 2.28 per kg and piped LPG supply to households by Rs 2.10 after a 62 per cent hike in natural gas prices.

The price of CNG being supplied by IGL in Gurugram will be Rs 55.81 per kg; 56.50 in Rewari; Karnal and Kaithal Rs 54.70; Muzaffarnagar, Meerut and Shamli Rs 60.71; Kanpur, Fatehpur and Hamirpur Rs 63.97; At the same time, in Ajmer, from 6 am on October 2, it will be Rs 62.41 per kg.

IGL has also increased the prices of domestic PNG with effect from October 2.

The consumer price of PNG supplied to households in Delhi has been increased by Rs 2.10 per cubic meter to Rs 33.01 per scm. The applicable price of domestic PNG will be Rs 32.86 per SCM for households in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.

“The revision in retail prices of CNG and domestic PNG has been made only to marginally offset the impact of the increase in the price of domestically produced natural gas and increasing dependence on costly R-LNG.”

IGL said the increase will have a marginal impact on the per kilometer running cost of vehicles. This increase will be 6 paise per km for autos, 11 paise for taxis and Rs 1.65 per km in case of buses. I

With the revised pricing compared to vehicles running on alternative fuels at the current level of prices, CNG will still offer savings of over 60 per cent in running cost.
