New Delhi: CNG prices in the national capital were hiked by Rs 2.50 per kg for the second consecutive day on Thursday, taking the total hike since March to Rs 12.5 per kg.
CNG is now priced at Rs 69.11 per kg in the National Capital Region (NCT) of Delhi, according to information posted on the website of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), which retails CNG and piped cooking gas. in the national capital and surrounding cities.
On Wednesday also the price had increased by Rs 2.50 per kg.
However, there was no change in the rates of piped cooking gas (PNG). Its price remains at Rs 41.61 per standard cubic meter.
CNG Price in Delhi 12.48 per kg since March when city gas distributors started factoring in higher international energy prices.
On Thursday, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) raised the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) in Mumbai by Rs 7 per kg to Rs 67 per kg, while Gujarat Gas increased the rates by Rs 6.50 per kg to Rs 76.98 per kg. gave.
Prices vary from city to city depending on the incidence of local taxes such as VAT.
The increase comes on the back of the government to more than double natural gas prices to $6.1 per million British thermal units from 1 April.
Natural gas when compressed becomes CNG for use as a fuel in automobiles. The same gas is also supplied to domestic kitchens and industries for cooking and other purposes.
The hike in CNG prices comes after the hike in petrol and diesel prices by Rs 10 per liter and LPG rates by Rs 50 per cylinder in 16 days.
A record 137-day gap in revision of petrol and diesel prices ended on March 22. On the same day, the price of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder increased to Rs 949.50 in the national capital. In some places, the price of LPG has gone up to Rs 1,000.
According to IGL, the price of CNG will now be Rs 71.67 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad and Rs 77.44 per kg in Gurugram adjoining Delhi.
