CNG prices hiked in Delhi, Mumbai

The price of CNG in Delhi is now Rs 71.61 per kg while in Mumbai it is now Rs 72 per kg.

Petrol and diesel prices have offered some respite in the past one week with prices stabilizing for the past eight days. However, the same cannot be said for CNG, which has seen a price hike in both Delhi and Mumbai in the last two days. Indraprastha Gas, a supplier of CNG in Delhi and neighboring regions, on April 14 increased CNG prices by up to ₹ 2.5 per kg, taking the fuel price to ₹ 71.61 per kg in the national capital.

This brings the total increase in prices to around Rs 10.8 per kg in the national capital from April 1, when prices were at Rs 60.81 per kg after a hike of 80 paise. Meanwhile, the price in Noida and Ghaziabad was Rs 74.17 per kg on Thursday morning, while the price in Gurugram was Rs 79.94 per kg. CNG prices have increased by more than Rs 10 per kg in Mumbai and Delhi from April 1.

Focusing on Mumbai, CNG supplier Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) hiked CNG prices by Rs 5 per kg for the second time this month on April 13. The price of CNG on Wednesday morning was ₹72 per kg, while the previous price set on April 6 was ₹67 per kg. CNG prices in Mumbai and neighboring areas have increased significantly since April 1, when MGL reduced CNG prices. ₹ 60 per kg in support of reduction of state government tax on fuel.

Some of the expenses incurred by the entities are likely to be offset by the hike in CNG prices due to the higher cost of natural gas as fixed by the Government of India on April 1.
