Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi on Tuesday discussed ways to improve coal stocks in thermal power plants with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Power Minister RK Singh. The meeting is taking place in the backdrop of power plants facing coal shortage.

“Held virtual meeting with Ministers @AshwiniVaishnaw ji & @RajKSinghIndia ji with @CoalMinistry officials, CMDs & officers of coal companies. We discussed improving coal stocks in thermal power plants and resolved our commitment to meet the country’s energy demands. Increase production and load at least 34 rakes of dry fuel per day.

“Reviewed @NCL_SINGRAULI with the CMD of the company today. Directed NCL to expedite coal production and load at least 34 rakes per day. Thereafter, will visit the coal mines of NCL to interact with the employees and motivate them to increase coal exploration and dispatch,” Joshi said.

Last week, Joshi said the government was making all efforts to meet the coal demand of power producers and stressed that soon steps were being taken to increase the supply of dry fuel to 2 million tonnes per day.

The Minister also felicitated the machine operators in NCL’s Nigahi Opencast Coal Project and said that their role is integral for increasing the coal production and despatch from the block.

“Flag off a coal dumper truck at Nigahi OCP, @NCL_SINGRAULI. This indigenous dumper is manufactured by BEML and takes forward the #MakeInIndia initiative.”
