Coimbatore Corporation has won the award for Armed Forces Flag Day fund collection by the Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare Department. According to a press release, the corporation collected Rs 43,22,820 for the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund in 2021, which was 181% more than the target of Rs 15,40,000. Governor RN Ravi will present the award to Municipal Commissioner M. Pratap during the Republic Day celebrations at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.

Officials of the Town Planning Department of the Coimbatore Corporation removed encroachments on the 4th road in Gandhipuram on Wednesday. A total of 40 encroachments such as ramps, stairs, flex boards and projected roofs were removed during the drive, said A Babu, assistant town planning officer, central zone. He also said that the civic body will continue such campaigns on all roads.
