This drop in maximum and minimum temperatures in the last 10 to 11 days was caused by a dense fog layer over the Indo-Gangetic plains and a large gap between two western disturbances, which brought snow from the rocks and cold winds from the mountains. Severe cold in Punjab, Haryana
The outbreak of severe cold continues in many parts of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday. During this, Faridkot has been the coldest place in the region. According to the Meteorological Department’s report, Faridkot in Punjab recorded minus one degree. Among other places in Punjab, Amritsar was in the grip of severe cold and the minimum temperature was recorded at 1.6 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, in neighboring Haryana, Ambala recorded a minimum temperature of 5.6 degrees Celsius while Hisar recorded a minimum temperature of 4.3 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, minimum temperatures of 4, 5.2, 4.7 and 1.8 degrees Celsius were recorded in Narnaul, Rohtak, Bhiwani and Sirsa.

Fatehpur and Churu are getting the coldest in Rajasthan. Fatehpur recorded minus 4.7 degrees Celsius and Churu minus 2.7 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, there is an outbreak of severe cold wave in many areas of the west of Rajasthan, due to which the minimum temperature has dropped significantly in Kota and growing division today. Chittorgarh recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.4 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, Sikar recorded 0.5 degree Celsius, Bhilwara 0.6 degree, Bikaner 1.2 degree, Pilani 1.6 degree, Baran 1.7 degree and Sangaria 1.8 degree Celsius.

In all the important cities of Rajasthan, the minimum temperature was recorded below seven degrees on Sunday. State capital Jaipur recorded maximum and minimum temperatures of: 19.5 degrees Celsius and 5.6 degrees Celsius.

Cold may return again in Jharkhand
Jharkhand may once again experience severe cold from Sunday night. According to the Meteorological Department, due to the northwestern layers coming from the north, a drop of three degrees Celsius in the minimum temperature can be recorded. There is partial respite from cold in Jharkhand due to increase in minimum temperature by two to three degrees Celsius since January 12 due to Western Disturbance in the Himalayan region. Temperatures are likely to rise over Jharkhand from January 19, as a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from January 18 night.

Schools will open tomorrow in many cities, time changed in Bihar
