“Come As A Surprise”: Ishita Kishore Tops Civil Services Exam In Third Attempt

Ishita Kishore is a graduate in Economics from Delhi’s Shri Ram College of Commerce

Delhi University alumnus Ishita Kishore topped the latest edition of the civil services exam as women bagged the top four ranks. She now aspires to join the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N and Smriti Mishra secured the second, third and fourth positions respectively.

As per the results of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Examination 2022 declared today, among the top 25 candidates, 14 are women and 11 are men.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh tweeted, “Women power at its best! Congratulations Ishita Kishor, Garima Lohia and Uma Hariti N, the first 3 toppers in #UPSC #CivilServicesExamination 2022 finals. Celebration day for all others as well.” ” Congratulations to the toppers.

An economics graduate from Delhi’s Shri Ram College of Commerce, Ms. Kishore got success in her third attempt. Now, she wants to “serve the country by joining the Indian Administrative Service (IAS)”.

Ms. Kishore further said that she was confident of qualifying, but topping the merit list came as a surprise to her.

“I don’t know what exactly worked for me but personally what I tried to do was to practice on my mains exams, go through previous years question papers, make notes from newspapers and revise them I think all of them together helped. I passed the exam,” Ms Kishor said in a tweet.

Ms. Lohia, who stood second, and Ms. Mishra, the fourth rank holder, are all Delhi University graduates. Harthi N, who came third, is an engineering graduate from IIT-Hyderabad. While Ms. Lohia graduated in commerce from Kirori Mal College, Ms. Mishra did her B.Sc. from Miranda House College.

In all, 933 candidates including 613 males and 320 females have cleared the exam, the commission said.

The UPSC exam is conducted every year in three phases – preliminary, main and interview – to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) and other services.
