Coming to India Maruti Suzuki Jimmy 5-door SUV spotted with heavy camouflage

Maruti Suzuki Jimny has been in the news for some time for the Indian market. Though things are developing rapidly now, recently, one of the top executives of Maruti Suzuki indicated that the off-roader SUV could be launched by the end of 2022. Following the statement, a five-door spy shots version of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny has surfaced, giving more thrust to the confirmation of the launch date of the new SUV. Rumors are rife that a five-door version of the SUV will be launched in the Indian market. However, spy shots of the camouflage test mule have been taken in Europe.

Courtesy Carscoops Spy shots of the five-door version of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny show some details of the car. For example, it is clear that the five-door version is slightly longer than the three-door version on sale in the global market. It should come as no surprise that the dimensions had to be increased to accommodate the additional two doors. However, the SUV retains its boxy design, which gives the Jimny its core personality.

Even in the five-door variant, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny has retained its features like round LED headlamps, which share slight similarities with the Force Gurkha for the Indian. Apart from this, other details such as the front grille, 16-inch alloy wheels, and spare wheel on the tailgate remain the same as the previous variant.

Spy shots also reveal minor details of the cabin of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, which shows a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel and an instrument cluster with a retro look. Additionally, the Jimny gets a touch screen infotainment system that can be accessed with controls for various other functions.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated K-series engine for the Indian market. A similar engine has been used in other models from the Indian manufacturer such as the latest Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Ertiga and XL6. When launched, the Jimny will go directly against the already established rivals Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha in the off-roader SUV segment.
