Commonwealth Games 2022 Day 5 Live Updates: India are leading 8-2 in the final of the Lawn Balls women’s fours against South Africa. India is eyeing history after winning a gold medal on the lawns on the fifth day of the Commonwealth Games 2022. In athletics, Murali Sreeshankar and Mohammad Anees Yahiya have qualified for the finals of men’s long jump. Star shot put player Manpreet Kaur has also qualified for the final. Weightlifter Poonam Yadav failed to return empty-handed from the women’s 76kg category in her three clean and jerk lifts. India will be aiming to increase their gold medal tally as the Indian badminton team will take on Malaysia in the mixed team final in the evening. Also, the men’s table tennis team will take on Singapore in the gold medal match. In squash, Saurav Ghosal will take on New Zealand’s Paul Cole in the men’s singles semi-final. In artistic gymnastics, Satyajit Mandal will play in the men’s vault final and Saif Sadak Tamboli will play in the parallel bar final.

Also, lifters Vikas Thakur (men’s 96kg) and Usha Bannor NK (women’s 87kg) will be in action. In Hockey, India will play England in the Women’s Pool A match. In Boxing, Rohit Tokas will play his welterweight round of 16 match. In the men’s 200m backstroke, India’s Srihari Natraj comes in with a time of 2:00.84 and is ninth in qualifying. They have not yet qualified for the finals and have been placed in the reserve list.

India has so far won three gold, three silver and bronze medals.
