Complete Russian energy embargo is what we want, claims Ukraine

Russo-Ukraine War: Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has entered its 71st day.

Kyiv:

Ukraine expects the European Union to impose sanctions on Russian natural gas and oil and wants Ukraine and Europe to “give up Russian energy resources completely”, a senior member of the Ukrainian parliament said on Thursday.

Andrey Geras, the head of parliament’s committee on energy and public utilities, said he expects Ukraine’s fuel supply to improve in mid-May and that Ukraine has a surplus of coal. He expects Kyiv to start importing natural gas again in the summer to fill storage facilities for the next heating season.

“As soon as European countries stop buying Russian gas, we will gladly stop moving it to Europe,” he told an online briefing. “We support the (EU) embargo on oil and oil products as well as gas and coal, and we hope that we will come to this in time, that Ukraine and Europe will completely abandon Russian energy resources. “
