Compulsory 7-day home quarantine for travelers coming from UAE to Mumbai

2,510 new coronavirus cases were reported in Mumbai today.

Mumbai:

All international travelers arriving in Mumbai from the United Arab Emirates, who are residents, will have to undergo a mandatory seven-day home quarantine, the city’s civic body said today, despite apprehensions over Omicron in airports around the world. But holiday rush is seen. Type.

Considered more reliable than other tests, RT-PCR COVID tests will be mandatory for these passengers, it is further underlined.

Last week, the civic body made these tests mandatory for passengers disembarking from Dubai in the city, which has now been extended to the entire UAE.

India’s financial capital Mumbai is once again seeing a spurt in cases of Kovid-19. In the last 24 hours, the city saw 2,510 new infections – 82% more than yesterday’s cases.

Across the city, all public places remain closed on December 31 to contain the spread of the virus amid New Year celebrations.

Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray said today, “As the cases are increasing rapidly, we appeal to everyone not to panic. However, we all should take utmost care and ensure that we are vaccinated and masked.”

Earlier in the day, state health minister Rajesh Tope had warned about the new restrictions.

“It is worrying to see a rise in the number of active cases in the state. Mumbai’s positivity rate is 4 per cent. If it goes above 5 per cent, we will have to think about imposing restrictions,” he told reporters.
