These changes have come before the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan next year. Both the states are currently ruled by the Congress and have been plagued by factionalism leading to leadership wars.

The Congress has appointed former Union minister Kumari Selja as general secretary in-charge of Chhattisgarh, while former Punjab minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Rajya Sabha MP Shaktisinh Gohil have been given the charge of Rajasthan and Haryana respectively.

These changes have come before the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan next year. Both the states are currently ruled by the Congress and have been plagued by factionalism leading to leadership wars.

“The Congress President has made these appointments in all India Congress Committee with immediate effect,” an official communication from the party said on Monday.

The party appreciates the contribution of Ajay Maken, PL Punia and Vivek Bansal and relieves them of their current responsibilities as general secretaries and in-charges of their respective states.

The order also states that the Congress president has appointed Gurdeep Singh Sappal in charge administration, along with Pawan Kumar Bansal. Bansal, a former Union minister, is currently the treasurer of the party and also holds the charge of administration.
