Ranchi: Congress MLAs will meet Chief Minister Hemant Soren and demand reduction in VAT imposed by the state government on fuel, amendment in Jharkhand recruitment exam rules, 27% job reservation for OBC candidates and scrutiny of results of preliminary examinations. The Congress Legislature Party held a meeting in Dhurwa on Friday under the leadership of its leader Alamgir Alam and state president Rajesh Thakur. Several MPs used the platform to point out that the election promises made in the party’s 2019 election manifesto are yet to be fulfilled.
Mahagama MLA Deepika Pandey Singh handed over a charter of demands to Alam, in which she demanded that the government should reduce VAT from 22% to 17%. “The stand of the government on 27% reservation for OBCs is still not clear. It is also injustice to remove Bhojpuri, Maghi and Angika from the recruitment examinations.
The MPs also demanded that the government should make a clear rule for sand mining and fulfill its promise of providing 50% reservation to women in all government vacancies.
While Alam and Thakur did not respond to TOI’s call after the meeting, a statement released by the party in the evening said: “The CLP leader assured the legislators that he would lead a delegation to the CM and formally express their demands. will present it.”
