Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi
An RSS-affiliated magazine has taken a dig at former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, saying the old party is passing through its worst phase due to “an immature and careless leader”. The magazine did not name Rahul Gandhi, but it was directed at Rahul Gandhi.
In his cover story on Rahul Gandhi for the October 10 edition, Panchajanya criticized the leader’s style of functioning. It said that “Rahu Kaal (bad phase) of Congress begins with Rahul”.
The article said that as long as Ahmed Patel was alive, he used to formulate the party’s strategy based on the suggestions of the party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi and also provided the “necessary balance” to Rahul. However, now the situation has changed.
Panchjanya alleged that Rahul’s sister Priyanka Gandhi, party general secretary and her husband Robert Vadra have ambitions of their own, even as Vadra believes that there is more in his wife than in Rahul Gandhi. Has potential, and he is not able to contest from any seat. But also emerging victorious.
On recent developments in Punjab, the magazine named Charanjit Singh Channi as the new chief minister in place of veteran leader Captain Amarinder Singh – whom Panchajanya later described as a friend of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi – and called it ” Masterstroke”. A happy moment followed the resignation of state chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Panchajanya took a jibe at the Congress high command, accusing the Congress of only promoting division and poverty among the people during its long rule and now that it is out of power, the party is battling infighting.
‘Home Owner’ Responsible
It also blamed the “house owners” for the Congress’s current political landscape in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
The magazine also questioned the Congress over the inclusion of former Left leader and former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar in the party and said “tomorrow he can stand on his shoulders and claim to be taller than Rahul Gandhi”.
It further said that the Congress needs to do some serious introspection to save the party, a democracy needs to have a capable opposition, and “strengthening the opposition is not the responsibility of those in power”.
