The former Union minister, whose recent meeting with BJP leaders in Delhi has raised many eyebrows, said he is ready to clear the air if given an opportunity.

JD(U)’s miffed parliamentary board chief Upendra Kushwaha on Tuesday alleged that he was being undermined within the party as part of a “conspiracy” to “politically weaken” his mentor Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Talking to reporters in Patna, the former Union minister, who recently had a meeting with BJP leaders in Delhi, said he is ready to clear the air if given a chance.

“Nitish Kumar can call me for clarification. Party meeting can also be called. But I will keep raising my voice against any attempt to weaken the Chief Minister,” Kushwaha said.

He expressed displeasure over being “kept out of party functions” such as the birth anniversary celebrations of former chief minister and socialist leader Karpoori Thakur.

No one else in the party has opposed the detractors, he said Nitish Kumar As I have”, Kushwaha claimed that but for his vigorous protest, ally RJD would not have issued a show cause notice to its MLA Sudhakar Singh, who is in news for his scathing attacks on the CM.

He also alleged that the RJD is “officially saying that it had entered into an agreement with our party at the time of alliance. The truth of his claim must be told to us by those who are in the know of things.”

“I was estranged from Nitish Kumar for some time. But when I saw him becoming politically weak, I merged my party RLSP in the interest of Luv-Kush (Kurmi-Koeri) unity and extremely backward classes.” Less than a decade after quitting.

“The conspiracy to dilute is still on and I will continue to speak against it. I will keep questioning the RJD which often seems to be dismissing Nitish Kumar as the leader of the alliance”, said Kushwaha who was the first minister Narendra Modi Government.

He also claimed that the CM is cutting a sorry figure by repeatedly saying “I don’t know” when asked by the media about the events in the state.

“This shows that the CM is surrounded by people who do not keep him properly informed. And this is another proof of the conspiracy to weaken him”, Kushwaha said.

Meanwhile, Kumar indicated his growing unease with Kushwaha, whom he had recently ruled out as his potential deputy, apart from RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav.

“Don’t ask me about him. He can say whatever he wants. He had gone somewhere and came back some time ago. But neither I nor anyone else in the party is going to react to his words”, Kumar said when reporters inquired about Kushwaha.
