Coronavirus Omicron variant traits: a tell-tale sign of an Omicron variant less common with the delta variant

The WHO suggests that the latest version of SARS-CoV-2 can easily spread from person to person. People who have either caught the virus before or have been fully vaccinated are at risk of contracting it. However, the Global Health Agency has said that the disease will be milder than the delta variant.

“There are still limited data on the clinical severity of Omicron. While preliminary findings from South Africa suggest that it may be less severe than Delta, and all reported so far in the EU/EEA The cases have been mild or asymptomatic, it is not clear to what extent Omicron may be inherently less toxic. More data are needed to understand the severity profile,” it said.

There have been no reports of serious illness since the introduction of Omicron. Rather, Dr Angelique Coetzee, president of the South African Medical Association, who also happens to be the first to discover the Omicron variant, initially stated that the disease was ‘mild’ and that infected people showed no signs of severity.
