16,602 people were vaccinated in the second mega immunization program organized in Kallakurichi district of Tamil Nadu on 19th September. According to Collector PN Sridhar, vaccines were administered in 423 camps. The camp started at 7 am and ended at 7 pm. About 12,804 people took the first dose of the vaccine, while 3,798 took the second dose. Official sources said there was no wastage of doses.

On 30 August, Bengaluru Urban became the first district in Karnataka (excluding BBMP) to achieve 100% first dose vaccination coverage. It also topped the list of districts with the highest second dose coverage. According to the state health and family welfare department data, 28.2% of the 10,62,262 population of this district were fully vaccinated by August 30.

However, a fortnight after achieving 100% first dose coverage, the administration of the first dose is on in the district and till Wednesday 11,15,135 people had received the first dose. This is 52,873 persons over the target population of 10,62,262.

Chennai Corporation sets one month deadline to vaccinate everyone

After setting a deadline of one month to vaccinate all residents above 18 years, the Greater Chennai Corporation has started sending teams to homes to persuade reluctant residents to take their shots.

At least 1,000 corporation workers have taken to the streets; Home visits to identify non-vaccinated residents. The teams will collect the details of the reluctant residents and take them to the vaccination camps over the next few weeks. The number of doses administered in the city is set to touch 50 lakh this week.
