Couple accused of starving a child to death now charged with murder – Henry’s Club

POPLARVILLE, Miss. (WLOX) — A Pearl River County couple are now facing murder charges in connection with the death of their five-month-old daughter.

Kendra Beck, 20, and Takoda Miller, 23, were arrested on March 22 and booked into the Pearl River County Jail after pleading guilty to the child’s death in early October 2021.

According to the indictment, the couple intentionally or recklessly starved Carrie Beck for five months of the nutrition she needed to sustain life or growth.

Officials said the couple were charged with felony after neglecting and abusing a second child, who was 19 months old at the time.

The indictment alleges that Beck and Miller deprived the child of food, clothing, shelter, health care or supervision, resulting in substantial damage to the child’s physical, mental or emotional health. In addition, court documents state that the child became infested with lice, covered with feces, and severe diaper rash as a result of the abuse.

Both Beck and Miller are being held without bond in the Pearl River County Jail. He will be produced in the circuit court on Tuesday morning.
