Surat: The manager of a life insurance company has filed a fraud complaint against a couple after both of them cheated them of Rs 9.9 lakh by promising them high return on investment.
Rakesh Kothari (29), a resident of Saurashtra Row Houses in Pasodra, works as a manager in a private life insurance company. A year ago, while working with a finance bank in Bardoli, he met Jayesh, the branch manager. Town and his wife Pinki who made friends Kothari and went to his house. During one such visit, the couple told Kothari that they too are investment managers and lured him with an investment plan that assured high returns of 2.5% interest for a monthly investment of Rs 1 lakh.
Kothari paid a total of Rs 12,00,000 in parts. In return, the couple returned Rs 2,10,000 to him. However, Kothari did not get any interest after that.
Meanwhile, in January 2022, when Kothari called up Nagar, the latter told him that he would get his interest within a few days, but it never came. After a few days, when Kothari tried to call the two again, he found that their cell phones were switched off. After this, Kothari also visited the couple’s residence located in Siddhagiri Building in Adajan and the owner of the house informed that the couple had left the house on January 17, 2022.
