Rajkot/Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asked people not to let their guard down and be vigilant against COVID-19, which he said keeps resurfacing.
Addressing the Mahapatotsav program of Maa Umiya Dham in Vanthali town of Junagadh district via video conference, Modi said, “No one knows when ‘Bahurupiya’ (the one who changes form) will re-emerge from Covid-19.” He thanked the people for making 185 crore vaccine doses possible to contain the spread of COVID-19. The event was organized as part of the 14th Foundation Day celebrations of the temple of Maa Umiya, the family deity of the Kadwa Patidar community.
“Corona was a major crisis, and we are not saying it is over. It may be over for now, but we never know when it will reappear. It is a ‘polymorphic’ disease “About 185 crore vaccine doses were administered to prevent the spread, a feat that took the entire world by surprise. This has been made possible because of public support.”
The PM’s warning comes at a time when there is a huge jump in the Omicron XE variant in many countries.
Modi also urged the devotees of Maa Umiya to go for natural farming to save the earth from the menace of chemical fertilizers.
Natural farming will save our earth: PM
We have to save Mother Earth… We have got a governor (Acharya Devvrat of Gujarat) who is completely committed to natural farming. He has addressed kisan sabhas at the taluka level, and lakhs of farmers have turned to natural farming,” PM Modi said.
As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav being organized to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence, people were asked to build 75 ‘Amrit Sarovar’ (lakes) in each district by digging, deepening and renovating existing water bodies. Must take a pledge.
He said, “Let us start the project of 75 lakes in each district. It is not a big deal for all of you who have built lakhs of check dams. Imagine how big a service it will be.”
The PM said that people facing severe water crisis should not give up the practice of water conservation regardless of the success achieved in this sector. “This is something that needs to be done every year before monsoon by deepening the lakes and cleaning the water channels to conserve water,” he said.
He said that the ‘Maa Umiya Trust’, which manages the temple, should organize competitions at the village level to promote the good health of the children. He said, “You should ensure that no child is suffering from malnutrition, irrespective of community. If the child is strong, the community and the country will be strong.”
The Prime Minister also said that the country’s daughters have shown their strength in the Olympics as a result of awareness against female feticide. “Who wouldn’t be proud of our daughters?” He added.
