Covid-19 | Mumbai airport sets up testing facility for international passengers

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) for international passengers arriving in Mumbai by air, following latest norms Guidelines issued by MoH&FW and in view of current COVID-19 situation, have taken simultaneous measures to contain the spread of the virus.

“Based on the latest guidelines applicable from December 24, two per cent of all international passengers arriving at CSMIA will be required to undergo post-arrival testing at the airport,” the airport operator said in a statement.

Such passengers will be identified by their respective airlines and guided by airline staff to a dedicated area at the terminal for their RT-PCR tests.

Passengers need to submit samples and continue their onward journey. Will make provision to send digital copy of lab test results directly to passengers.

The RT-PCR testing facility for International Arrivals passengers at CSMIA is located in the International Arrivals Concourse, in the pre-immigration area, after the health screening counters.

The testing facility will be available round-the-clock free of cost to randomly selected passengers by the airlines.

CSMIA has appointed an ICMR approved and NABL accredited laboratory for COVID-19 testing.

The airport has provisioned 06 registration counters and 03 sampling booths for the COVID-19 testing process.

Messages and details of latest advisories on preventive measures are strategically placed on terminals and digital platforms of CSMIA. All the stakeholders have also been sensitized and informed to follow the instructions laid down by the authorities from time to time.

“Our teams will be available to assist our passengers and provide all necessary support to implement the guidelines issued by the government authorities,” CSMIA said.
