CSK vs MI: Chennai Super Kings bowl out for 97 to register their second lowest total in IPL

Chennai Super Kings were bowled out for 97 to be dismissed for their second lowest score in the Indian Premier League. Defending champions CSK were asked to bat by Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday and they never recovered from two blows in the first over of their innings.

Had it not been for MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 36, CSK would have folded for less than 79 for their lowest score in the IPL.

On 5 May 2013, Chennai Super Kings were bowled out for 79 runs chasing 140 runs. That match was also played at the Wankhede Stadium.

Daniel Sams dismissed Devon Conway and Moeen Ali in the first over, before Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Robin Uthappa in his first over. CSK were initially unlucky as there was no DRS available for a few minutes due to power failure.

CSK vs MI, IPL 2022 Updates

Conway and Uthappa were both dismissed lbw, but TV replays showed the ball was sliding down the leg side after Sam hit Conway on the pads. Uthappa, however, was in front.

What happened after that was due to some fast bowling by Mumbai Indians and poor shot-selection by the Super Kings.

Ambati Rayudu bowls a length ball off Riley Meredith as CSK were bowled out for 29 for 5 in the sixth over. Meredith took another wicket in his second over when he dismissed Shivam Dubey to bowl out CSK for 39 for 6.

At one point, CSK looked to be getting out on their lowest score in the IPL.

However, MS Dhoni continued his good form with the bat and added 39 runs for the 7th wicket with the experienced Dwayne Bravo. Bravo hits Kumar Karthikeya for a big six but Tilak Verma takes a brilliant catch at short cover.

In the same over, Kumar Karthikeya strikes again to trap Simarjit Singh – a vigorous appeal for lbw was retained, but Simarjit Singh reviewed and replays showed he was out.

Ramandeep Singh dropped Mahesh Thikshana in his first over and CSK made 81 for 9, escaping the notoriety of recording their lowest IPL total.

MS Dhoni hit a six and a four against Riley Meredith in the 16th over, but the final wicket fell through a run out when Mukesh Chaudhary was run out at the striker’s end while Dhoni tried to retain the strike. Of.

CSK were bundled out for 97 with 4 overs to spare.
