CUET in Delhi: ‘Students living a never ending nightmare’ | Delhi News – Times of India

New Delhi: In the second phase of CUET Phase II, angry parents and students complained about the postponement of exams and irregularities.
Shivani Bhattacharya and her husband were accompanied by their son, who was about to appear for the exam, at a center in Sector 11, Rohini, but was stunned. “My son was assigned the second slot. When we reached the center around 12:45 pm, we got a notice saying that the exam has been postponed. The school authorities were at a loss and could not provide any information,” the Dwarka resident recalled.
“It was only after the parents protested that an officer came and told us that they had received the information only at 11 am. It is sheer harassment and it is really tough for these students, who are living in a never ending nightmare,” she said. “There were people who traveled all the way Ghaziabad and also Patna (by choice, believing things will be smooth in the capital), only to find that they were left high and dry. The cut-off system now feels great. ,
Samir Bhagat, who visited a center in Rohini’s Sector 22, complained, “My daughter scored 98% in her board and now she is overcome with anxiety.” It took us three hours to reach the centre, and then the students waited in agony for two hours, they were told that the exam had been postponed. The government has created such a system which is putting students under so much stress. My daughter came out of the middle trembling. If due to all this a student is unable to get proper admission, can you imagine his mental state? The government should look into this immediately.”
Samriddhi Virmani, a resident of Dwarka at a center in Noida’s Sector 64, fifty km from Rohini, could not believe that his examination had been canceled for the second consecutive day.
“We had completed all the formalities, and it was only after three hours that we were informed that the exam had been cancelled,” she recalled.
“We are stressed beyond imagination and it is affecting our motivation,” she said. “Despite going to the center for two days, I could not appear for a single paper. As a batch we have suffered a lot and even had to appear for the board in two phases. We have a saturation point. I am very disappointed and my motivation to study has definitely decreased,” she complained.
Students and parents from all the centers said that CUET was conceived to provide an “equal playing field”, which has turned into an exercise of harassment.
At a time when many frustrated and weary students were pulling back to return home, their peers at an examination center in Delhi University were being asked to change their seats in the middle of appearing for the second paper because the computer screen It was starting to look different. names. The rearrangement and reallocation of seats took time and at least half an hour wasted before questioning could be resumed.
“The server problem came to the fore when we were appearing for the second paper,” said Dheeraj Yadav, a student. “In the middle of the exam, we had to change seats as the computers started showing different names. Hence, all the students were asked to change their seats as per the new allotment. I appeared for the paper on two different computers. There was a time when we thought that the exam would be canceled but then the system started working.
Another candidate Suhani Arora said, “Though the timer started from where we left off, it took almost half an hour for the exam to resume as we were all asked to change our seats.”
The parents of the DU center said that the cancellation and change of centers has put them in a state of worry forever. “Throughout the day, we kept checking whether the exam was canceled or not. The first day saw so many cancellations that we were checking till the last minute. ,
Reports of disturbances also surfaced on social media from the centers of Anand Vihar and Badarpur.
