Cyrus Mistry and Jehangir Pandole were behind Merck, not wearing seat belts, says Maharashtra Police. India News – Times of India

Mumbai: Cyrus Mechanic And three others in his SUV were returning to Mumbai after a visit to the Iranshah fire temple in Udvada, a small village in Gujarat, about 180 km away. Both the Cyrus and Pandole brothers recently lost their father on June 28 and August 29 respectively. TOI has learned that Mistry and his friends left for Mumbai after lunch at a friend’s sea-facing hotel in Udvada.

Anahita And Darius, who both suffered multiple fractures, was rushed to a hospital in Vapi. Darius is the managing director of the private equity business of JM Financial and was once the junior national squash champion. JahangirA graduate of the renowned London Business School, he was previously a Director in the Global Strategy Group of the London-based consulting firm KPMG.
Palghar Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil and other top police officials reached the spot and confirmed that Mistry and Jehangir died on the spot.

The bodies of Mistry and Jehangir were taken to Mumbai’s JJ Hospital for post-mortem late Sunday evening. Police said prima facie evidence suggests that Anahita lost control of the vehicle while taking the old bridge over the Surya river, which is at a lower level than the new bridge. He had just crossed the three-lane Charoti toll block and had covered a kilometer when the accident took place.
Police officials who visited the spot said the vehicle may be speeding up and the driver may have a question on which bridge to take. Casa police said a report of accidental death has been registered. While the speeding is believed to have caused the accident, the police will record the statements of the injured victims.

Medical superintendent Pradeep Dhodi said that two people died. Mistry and Jehangir, who were sitting diagonally in front of the driver, died on the spot when their heads hit the front seats. Dr Dhodi said that he died of a serious head injury. The curtain airbags designed to protect the rear passengers were opened but by then it was too late. Police, after inspecting the vehicle, said that since Cyrus and Jahangir were not wearing their seat belts, their heads hit the front seats before the bags could be opened.

Anahita and Darius, a former independent director of Tata Global Beverages, both suffered hip and jaw fractures. It is learned that a team of doctors from Mumbai is going to Vapi Hospital to examine the victims. Police said Anahita and Darius survived because their airbags opened and they put on their seat belts.

The impact of the accident was such that the engine of the diesel car MH-47-AB-6705, registered in the name of Darius’s company JM Financial Limited, collapsed behind the wheels. The bonnet was intact. Passers-by and drivers arrived to rescue the victims. Since there is no house or shop near the accident site, the police do not have CCTV pictures of the accident.
