Cyrus Mistry’s death: Tributes after the tragic demise of former Tata Sons chairman

Former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry has died in a road accident. The accident took place when his car collided with a divider in Palghar district of Maharashtra adjoining Mumbai on Sunday. Police said that he was going from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a Mercedes car when the accident happened at around 3.15 pm on a bridge on the Surya river. Two others, including the car driver, who were traveling with Mistry were injured and admitted to a hospital in Gujarat.

Tributes have been pouring in on social media ever since the news of Mistry’s sad demise broke. From the people who met him to his fans from afar, from politicians to journalists and industrialists, this news shook everyone. “Very sad to hear the shocking news of #CyrusMistry passing away in an accident. He was a friend, a gentleman, a man of substance. He was instrumental in creating Shapoorji Pallonji, a global manufacturing company and led the Tata Group,” tweeted industrialist Harsh Goenka.

“The accident happened around 3.15 pm, when Mistry was traveling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. The accident happened on the bridge over the Surya river. It seems to be an accident,” said Palghar district superintendent of police Balasaheb Patil.

The SP said that more information would be taken from the people admitted in the hospital.
