Dakar 2022: Hero’s Joaquim Rodrigues wins stage 3, Harith Noah top 30

Joaquim Rodrigues had a rough start in Stage 1, but managed to make a stunning comeback in Stage 2 before winning Stage 3, making Hero Motosports the first Indian team and manufacturer to win a stage in Dakar.

Hero MotoSports Team rally rider Joaquim Rodrigues created history by winning Stage 3 of the 2022 Dakar Rally. This is the first stage win in Dakar by an Indian team and producer. Rodrigues had a difficult start in Stage 1, but managed to make a great comeback in Stage 2 before going on to win Stage 3 at the Hero Rally 450. Teammate Aaron Mare scored an impressive run without a fault and finished the podium in 18th place. Harith Noah, the only Indian in Dakar this year, finished the podium in 29th place.

Stage 3 began in the early morning from Al Qaisumah with a special section of 255 km, which included alternating dune ridges and steep plateaus, and complex intersections. The riders navigated the challenging terrain and managed to do it with ease. Such was the case with Noah, who approached the day with more confidence about the next steps.

Aaron Mare maintains a steady pace and is ranked 10th in the overall rankings, while Rodrigues has dropped to 17th.

Although the stage was really fast, with lots of difficulty in changing dunes and tracks, I was able to push hard with the right timing. Was able to. First km. Aaron Mare, Rider – Hero Motosports said, “Today the stage was really fast, was shortened by about 100km. My focus was on avoiding any navigation mistakes or accidents. Overall, it was another consecutive day for me , I didn’t lose a lot of time, and I’m happy with my starting position for tomorrow. I’m also excited when the team achieves this historic feat. Jerrod put up an incredible performance today, and I’m so happy for him . “

Riders will now enter Stage 4 of the 2022 Dakar Rally, which will be the longest rally ever from Al Qaisumah to Riyadh with a total of 707km. It will consist of a special stretch of 465 km including about 200 km of fast track, wadi crossings and chains of dunes.
