Election season brings with it unique ways to campaign. Leaders (politicians) across party lines from PM Modi to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Everyone has tried their best to mingle with the locals during their travels. While PM Modi is famous for wearing the traditional cap, he has also been seen playing local musical instruments during the tour. Recently, he was seen grooving and singing patriotic songs with the jawans in Kargil. Rahul Gandhi, on the other hand, has been in the news for his offbeat stops during the party’s ‘Bharat Jodi’ tour across India.

Here are some examples where political leaders have taken on a different avatar on the street:

Narendra Modi

Traditional hats are a favorite for the Prime Minister, who has sported a wide array of traditional hats and attires during his visit. Recently, PM Modi was seen in white traditional attire with a swastika printed on his back during his Kedarnath Yatra.

PM Modi is also a fan of traditional musical instruments and has tried his hands on many instruments including dhol and even flute.

Rahul Gandhi

Many videos of Rahul Gandhi are being shared extensively on social media during the Bharat Jodi Yatra. This week, Rahul Gandhi followed the PM’s trend and wore traditional headgear. Gandhi was also seen dancing with the locals in Telangana. Rahul Ganshi also made several stops at local restaurants and shops, tasted local delicacies. Today Gandhi was seen playing with a goat baby.

Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been spotted many times with her dancing shoes. Recently she danced with folk artists at a mass wedding ceremony in Alipurduar. Banerjee has also performed with folk artists at grand carnivals, which feature among the top 95 Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata.

Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is known to break a song during his speeches. Back in 2013, when he took oath, Kejriwal sang on stage and continues to do so. Last year, he sang during a new year in Delhi too.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan

During Diwali celebrations earlier this month, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan was seen dancing with his wife in Bhopal. He and his wife danced with children who had lost their parents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bhupesh Baghel

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has also been in the dance squad several times. Recently he was seen dancing with local artists during Govardhan Puja last year. They were also seen playing musical instruments.
