David Warner said he is looking forward to having “honest talks” with Cricket Australia to “open its doors” and discuss the scrapping of his lifelong leadership ban.
“As I’ve said off-the-record many times, it’s on board to reach out to me and open their doors. Then I can sit down and have an honest conversation with them,” Warner said.
Why was Warner banned for life as captain?
In the year 2018, Steve Smith And David Warner was found guilty in the ball tampering scandal in South Africa.
While former captain Steve Smith was stripped of the captaincy and banned from leading Australia for two years, Warner was handed a lifetime leadership ban.
However, many former and current players, including the Test captain Pat CumminsWarner’s life ban should be abolished.
“It hasn’t been brought to the table,” Warner was quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.
Warner, Smith and batsman Cameron Bancroft were banned from playing domestic or international cricket as punishment for their role in the infamous ball-tampering scandal.
Warner and Smith were banned for one year and Bancroft for nine months.
Warner, 35, will join the Big Bash League for the first time since 2013 after signing a two-year deal with Sydney Thunder.
The captaincy position at Sydney Thunder is open after their former captain Usman Khawaja Moved to Brisbane Heat.
However, Warner said that he can become a leader without a title.
“I have experience, I’m the leader of the team without a title anyway,” he said.

“That’s what I’m doing, giving back, so if they (young players) can pick my mind in any way, I’m always on my phone, they have my number, and when I’m at practice facilities. If I do, they can see me,” he expressed.
