DCM Shriram focuses on developing, manufacturing versatile drones across India

Diversified manufacturing company, DCM Shriram Industries is focusing on developing and manufacturing versatile drones that will not only target the defense sector but across the board. Joint Chairman Rudra Sriram said the company “entered the (drone) market at the right time.”

In an interview to PTI, Shriram said that “we have ready-made products for the market.”

Shriram highlighted that the idea is to create drone completely in India.

He said, “The idea is Make in India. Even for them (Zyron) it is expensive to manufacture there. So, they can focus on technology development and we can focus on manufacturing on a large scale.” can.”

Shriram revealed that the company has a research and development (R&D) facility in Delhi and also that it has a license to manufacture defense drones at its facilities in India.

Furthermore, he added that it will not take long for the company to ramp up its manufacturing capacity of drones once the order is received.

Sriram said the product is currently in the testing phase. However, he could not give the actual scale yet. But they did reveal that in the next few weeks they would send their drones for proper qualitative testing.

Sriram also clarified that he has not won any contract with the Indian Defense Forces yet.

Presently, DCM Shriram is engaged in businesses like Sugar, Alcohol, Fine Chemicals, Industrial Fiber, Defense and Engineering Products.

The turnover of the company is approx. 8,000 crores. Last year, DCM Shriram invested $1 million to buy a 30 per cent stake in Turkish drone company Zyron Dynamics.
