Bodies of a woman and her child were pulled out from the pit of a dead stone quarry near Radhapuram on Wednesday.
Police said that Kumbikulam’s K.K. Valarmati (30) went missing along with her four-month-old baby girl Vasundhara on Monday. Based on a complaint by Valarmati’s husband Kannan, the Radhapuram police registered a case and were on the lookout for them.
The bodies of Valarmathi and the child were found floating in the water at the stone quarry on Thursday morning. The dead bodies were sent for postmortem.
During investigation, the police found that Valarmati had been admitted to a hospital with depression. She was discharged after 15 days of treatment and a few days ago she came to her maternal home after staying at her maternal home. Further investigation is underway.
