Actor Sidharth on Tuesday issued a public apology after facing heat for his “rude joke” in response to a tweet by badminton player Saina Nehwal.
In an apology posted on Twitter, Siddharth wrote, “Dear Saina, I want to apologize to you for my rude joke that I wrote in response to one of your tweets a few days ago. I can disagree with you on many things , but even my frustration or anger when I read your tweet can’t justify my tone and words. I know I am more gracious than that. For the sake of jokes, if the joke needs to be explained, that’s great joke Wasn’t to begin with. Sorry for a joke that didn’t land.”
“However, I must stress my word play and humor had no malicious intent that so many people of all classes have attributed to it. I am a staunch feminist ally and I assure that there is no gender implied in my tweets. Didn’t and certainly didn’t intend to attack you as a woman. I hope we can get past this and you will accept my letter. You will always be my champion. Honestly, Siddhartha,” it added.

This comes after the Tamil-Telugu actor was called by many netizens and popular personalities for his ‘brutal’ language. Siddharth is being criticized for the tweet, in response to which he wrote Saina Nehwal’s tweet Regarding lapse in security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Ferozepur in Punjab on January 5.
However, He defended his tweet, to say that nothing offensive was intended, said, or indicated.
Last week, Saina Nehwal took to Twitter to share her views on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security breach, She wrote, “No nation can claim itself to be safe if the security of its own PM is compromised. I, in the strongest terms, condemn the cowardly attack on PM Modi by Anarchists (sic).”
To this Sidharth quoted Saina’s tweet and wrote, “Micro cock champion of the world…Thank god we have India defenders. Shame on you #Rihanna.”
