The Punjab government has announced a hike of Rs 11 per cent in dearness allowance for state government employees. Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi made this announcement during a press conference in Chandigarh on Monday.
“On the occasion of Diwali, I wanted to give a gift to the state government employees. He would never have received such a gift till date. Employees were on strike even before I became CM. I spoke to him this morning,” CM Channi said during the press conference.
“We discussed the gift, they gave me a commitment that they will not go on strike, whatever the situation, as long as this government is in power. They will sit and discuss the issue.”
