Deepika Padukone to star in dad Prakash Padukone’s biopic; details inside

The story of Deepika Padukone’s father, ace badminton player Prakash Padukone, is being adapted into a film by his daughter. Superstar Deepika Padukone has confirmed that she is working on a film based on the life and career of her father Prakash Padukone. Last year, the actress produced and starred in 83, which recreated the Indian cricket team’s stupendous World Cup win of 1983. The film featured Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev.

In a conversation with TV anchor Cyrus Brocha on her show, the 36-year-old actress confirmed that she is working on the film. He also mentioned his struggles to put Indian sports on the global map. Before that the Indian cricket team won the 1983 World Cup and made the country proud.

He said, “In fact, even before he was 83, he was one of the first Indian athletes to put India on the global map as far as Indian sport is concerned. He won the World Championship in 1981, apparently was before 1983.

The Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actress also spoke about how she trained with limited resources and made the best out of what she had. She said, “She trained in a marriage hall, that was her badminton court. He used things like beams to make his shot more accurate. He actually used his disadvantage to his advantage. Had he had the facilities that athletes in India have today, he would have been much better off.

Currently, the Piku actress is pouring praises on her latest release on Amazon Prime – Gaheriyaan co-starring Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Dhairya Karva. Earlier, Malaika Arora reviewed Shakun Batra’s directorial and called Deepika a ‘sublime’, even hugging Ananya as she praised the duo’s performance in the film.

On the work front, Deepika Padukone has several projects in her kitty. She will next be seen in Pathan opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The actress also has an Indian adaptation of Hrithik Roshan-starrer Fighter and The Intern with Amitabh Bachchan in the pipeline. Apart from these, Deepika will be seen in Nag Ashwin’s film ‘K’ with Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas.
