New Delhi : Twenty-five schools have been identified as pilot projects under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to upgrade the teaching, technical and physical infrastructure of these institutions, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi said on Saturday.

Officials said the Lt Governor had “visited these institutions to take forward his agenda of taking the MCD and the institutions under it to new heights in mission mode”.

Raj Niwas said in a statement that Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena along with top officials of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Saturday visited Municipal Corporation Pratibha Vidyalaya in H-Block of Ashok Vihar.

Addressing the faculty and staff present on the occasion, LG promised to take the schools run by MCD to the “highest standards by providing the best teaching, technical and physical infrastructure”.

Saxena said in the statement, “For this purpose, as a pilot, 25 schools have been identified and work will be started there at the earliest. All other remaining schools run by MCD will also start gradually. Will be done.”

The LG assured the teachers that he would make every effort to provide them with an enabling work environment and encouraged them to do their best by being constantly updated and proactive, so as to make their students mentally and academically the best amongst them. be given equal size. peers.

Saxena, who also visited the school premises, appreciated the general upkeep and maintenance and directed that cleanliness be ensured on daily basis, broken classroom furniture should be replaced and library be updated with latest relevant resources, said the statement.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the over. 920 crore Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor Project. The project comprises of one tunnel and five underpasses and aims to provide relief from heavy traffic in the national capital.

The 1.6-km-long tunnel, which will be Delhi’s first, will allow commuters traveling from East Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad to India Gate and other central Delhi areas to clear traffic jams on ITO, Mathura Road and Bhairon Marg.
