Delhi: Ashram flyover to reopen today; Traffic police issued advisory

The much-awaited Ashram flyover will be reopened for public from 5 pm today. The flyover will be reopened after the inauguration by CM Arvind Kejriwal. Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory in view of the reopening of the flyover.

The Delhi Traffic Police has said in its advisory that only light vehicles will be able to use the Ashram flyover. It has advised commuters to plan their travel as usual and follow the instructions of their personnel posted in the area to avoid inconvenience.

Listing destinations, the advisory said that “commuters using the Barapullah flyover are advised to use the Ashram flyover.

Only light vehicles coming from DND and going towards Gurugram, Chirag Delhi, Kalkaji, Khanpur, Greater Kailash, Saket, AIIMS, INA and Safdarjung are advised to take Ashram flyover instead of Barapullah flyover.

Light vehicles coming from Gurugram, Chirag Delhi, Kalkaji, Khanpur, Greater Kailash, Saket, AIIMS, INA, Sadarjung and Dhaula Kuan and going towards Sarai Kale Khan, Ghaziabad, DND, Noida and Trans-Yamuna area only. It is advised to take Ashram flyover in place of Barapullah flyover.

Heavy vehicles like buses, trucks etc are still not allowed on both the carriageways of Ashram flyover till further notice.

Commuters coming from Sarai Kale Khan are advised not to use the Ashram flyover. They can plan their travel as usual.

Commuters are also advised to follow the directions of traffic personnel deployed in the area to avoid inconvenience.

Commuting between Delhi and Noida will become hassle-free after the Ashram flyover extension is opened to the public. It will cut travel time between Delhi and Noida by 25 minutes. The construction work of the flyover extension started in June 2020. The construction work of the 1,425-metre long flyover extension began after the cabinet approved the project in June 2020. the total cost of the project is 128.25 crores

Meanwhile, CM Kejriwal had earlier also denied allegations that the slight delay in opening the road was linked to the arrest of his former deputy Manish Sisodia. “It is likely to be inaugurated on Monday. The postponement was not because of Sisodia’s (arrest). But some works are pending which will be completed soon,” he said.
