According to a report by news agency PTI, due to increase in fuel prices and CNG, the Delhi government may increase the fare of auto-rickshaws and taxis.

A Delhi government committee has recommended a proportionate increase in fares related to fuel prices to revise the fares of auto-rickshaws and taxis, the report said.

The Delhi government had last month constituted a committee to review fares for auto-rickshaws and taxis. The committee is likely to finalize the report by the end of this week. The report will be submitted to Delhi’s Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot and will then go for cabinet approval.

“The committee is likely to finalize its report in the next two days. The committee has had two meetings. It is likely to recommend a proportionate increase in fares with respect to CNG prices. The committee also took note of the concerns. of autorickshaw unions,” as per a PTI report.

To understand the demands and expectations of the drivers, some of the committee members have been traveling by taxis and autos for the last two weeks.

“For the past 15 days, officials have been moving in auto-rickshaws and taxis in Delhi, to know the demands of the drivers and their expectations from the fare revision exercise. This is being done to get their feedback on the fare revision as they are the major stakeholders,” the agency said.

However, some auto and taxi unions have expressed concern over a possible hike in fares saying it will strengthen their competition with cab aggregators who offer rides at discounted rates and also shared their concerns with the panel .

By whom was the CNG price hiked in the national capital? Rs 2 per kg on Sunday, 12th increase in rates in two months. Now the cost of one kg of CNG 73.61, from above 71.61 per kg, as per the information posted on the website of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL).
