Delhi cold wave: Dense fog causes major disruption at IGI airport, 20 flights delayed

Delhi airport is facing frequent flight delays due to inclement weather. Around 20 flights from the capital’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) were delayed till 1 pm on Sunday due to bad weather and other operational issues. Around 13 flights arriving from various destinations were delayed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport due to cold wave conditions and dense fog, which is now affecting north India including the country’s capital.

An official at the airport said, “Till 6 am there was no information about any diversion of flight.” Passengers at Delhi’s IGI said, “Visibility at the airport is very poor amid the severe cold that we all are experiencing.”

In an advisory to passengers, airport officials said several procedures have been put in place to deal with the threat of low visibility at the airport. The airport also requested passengers to contact the airline concerned for the latest information on the status of their flight, officials said.
