Raj Niwas officials on Monday said Congress leaders have written to Lieutenant-Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena seeking a probe into the allegations of snooping through a specially designed Feedback Unit (FBU) by the Delhi government.

Officials said the LG secretariat has forwarded the request to Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar for further action.

According to sources, in a letter to the Lieutenant Governor on March 1, Sandeep Dikshit, Mangat Ram Singhal and Kiran Walia of the Congress sought a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, or UAPA. on charges of snooping.

Reacting to the development, the Aam Aadmi Party said it shows that the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress are “one” at the Centre.

The Union Home Ministry in February approved the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to prosecute then Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) on charges of “spying on political opponents through specially designed FBUs”. Was given

The CBI’s preliminary probe, based on a 2016 complaint by an officer of the Delhi Directorate of Vigilance, stated that the FBU was involved in political intelligence gathering and snooping.

According to Raj Niwas officials, the Congress leaders said in their letter that the sanction for prosecution by the CBI under the PCA was “not relevant”.

“If the Government of Delhi, with the full knowledge of its Chief Minister and the entire Cabinet, approves and sets up an entity which has the capability and intent to collect information, electronic data, etc., to intercept and listen/watch/ Have the ability to see. Record data, which neither this government is constitutionally allowed, so it is not just a case of corruption, read the letter, adding that it is a “clear case of treason”.

The letter states, “CBI and NIA be directed to investigate under laws governing sedition and anti-national activities, and as evidence of wrongdoing has already been found, the concerned CM and Delhi government Ministers and officials should be prosecuted.”

Meanwhile, an AAP spokesperson said, “When the AAP government makes any complaint or reference to the BJP LG, he never takes any action on it.” But on a complaint by Congress leaders, BJP’s LG has taken immediate action. This shows how BJP and Congress are united.

He further said, “While the BJP has arrested Satyendar Jain and Manish Sisodia in completely false cases within a few months of filing the FIR, [Congress leader] Rahul Gandhi has not been arrested even ten years after the FIR was lodged in the Water Tight Open and Shut National Herald case. Why?”
