Delhi gets relief from scorching heat; the temperature dropped below 40 degrees

Delhi on Tuesday got some respite from the scorching sun and the temperature was recorded at 38.4 degree Celsius. The relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 43 per cent. The Meteorological Office has further said that there is a possibility of dust storm or thundershower on May 4.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, Tuesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38.4 degrees Celsius, with partly cloudy sky with a chance of thunder and lightning on May 4. The minimum temperature was recorded at 28.5 degree Celsius.

  • Predicting the weather for the next few days, the IMD said that another Western Disturbance has been predicted on May 4 and 5.
  • There is no possibility of heat wave in the city for at least two to three days.
  • According to IMD data, the minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to be 27 and 40 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Wednesday.
  • However, the mercury is likely to remain around 40 degree Celsius in the city till May 6.

The Safdarjung Observatory – the capital’s base station – had recorded a maximum temperature of 43.5 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days ending Saturday, the highest single day in April in 12 years.

Under the influence of a western disturbance, the mercury had dropped to 40.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday due to the easterly winds blowing from the capital.

According to CPCB data, Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) was recorded in the ‘poor’ category at around 7 pm. AQI between zero and 50 is ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 and 500 ‘very poor’ considered serious.
