Delhi: No Ramlila in ground near LNJP, GTB hospitals due to Covid facilities

Citizens will remain deprived of two of the most famous re-enactments of Ramayana stories during the Dussehra festival, despite Delhi government getting permission to stage Ramlila in the national capital with necessary COVID protocols.

The Delhi government has set up two 500 ICU beds each in a COVID care center near Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) and Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) hospitals in Delhi, which have been the venue for two of the most famous Ramlilas in the national capital.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Thursday informed that the Delhi government has decided to relax restrictions during the festive season of Durga Puja and Ramlila. According to the order issued by DDMA, permission will have to be taken from the District Magistrate (DM) of the area for any program related to the festival.

“After thorough inspection the DM and DCP of the area will allow the event anywhere. In an event in a closed area, only 50 per cent people will be allowed, while in an open area the number cannot exceed 200, DDMA said.

The DDMA said that the organizers of the event will maintain separate entry and exit gates for the event and no person will be allowed to enter without a mask.

“The District Magistrate shall keep the data of all such events with himself and the data of the whole of Delhi shall be with the Divisional Commissioner… No person shall stand or sit on the ground in any event during the festival. One has only to sit on the chair. and to follow social distancing,” it added.

According to the health bulletin, Delhi recorded 47 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday with a positivity rate of 0.06 per cent.
